Born in Kumamoto, Kyushu Japan

1996: US NGO work on climate in Washington D.C.

1998-2021: Japan's KIKO network org : https://www.kikonet.org/

Attended COP3 (Kyoto) in 1997

*Aim: Reduce fossil fuel use in Japan, especially coal.

* Action: Launched campaign to reduce use of coal in Japan, resulting in 17 planned coal plants closure.

* Action: Defunding Campaigns: Mizuho in 2020 and MUFJ in 2021.

* Awarded the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize in 2021: https://www.goldmanprize.org/recipien...

* Climate Integrate founded in 2022 with aim of supporting multiple actors’ decarbonization efforts in collaboration with partners in Japan and abroad.

* Visiting Associate Professor at Chiba University of Commerce -home to Japan’s first 100% renewable university initiative.

* Publications: “Climate Change and Politics” in Japanese (2019). She has a Ph.D in social sciences from Waseda University in Tokyo.
