Feeding Japan's hungry while reducing food waste - 2nd Harvest founder Charles E McJilton
How can we tackle 2 major issues of sustainability in Japan- the two-thirds wastefulness of all good food that ends up in the garbage and the 20 million people living in Japan below the poverty line who struggle to fill their family tables with good food every day? Here Charles E McJilton tells us about how starting his organization in Tokyo has been helping with these 2 major issues and what is his motivation to keep going.
Charles McJilton is the CEO of Second Harvest Japan. 2nd Harvest Japan is a non-profit which tackles both the people and the planet aims of sustainability in Japan: Food Waste and Food Insecurity. Second Harvest Japan was founded in 2002 and is the only nationwide foodbank in Japan.
