Restoring Machiya into Guesthouse in Kyoto | Mike Barr

Mike Barr is a university professor with a passion for sustainability - he has remodeled old traditional Japanese houses in the countryside as well as within Kyoto city to be used by his family and international travelers. Founded SAKARA-KYOTO which combine the beauty of traditional houses with modern comfort.

We also talk of the problems with overtourism in Kyoto and the importance of planning for future tourism that creates valuable travel experiences while also maintaining value of life for local residents.
