SST1: Japan's Smallest Town has Boldest Zero Waste Targets
Kamikatsu is the smallest town in Japan and also the boldest, the local government, active non-profits, local entrepreneurs and the local community have been reducing their waste as far back as 2003.
But the innovation and actions of the town planners and small businesses go well beyond just waste reduction. Kamikatsu has become a great destination in Japan to seek out best practice and innovation in travel, work and life that maintains a better balance for people-planet-profits than almost any other destination in Japan.
This is the first episode in a new weekly LIVE talkshow series called "Seeking Sustainability in Travel Japan" - the series starts with the smallest town in Japan which has the biggest zero-waste targets: Kamikatsu town, Tokushima prefecture, Shikoku island, Japan.
