Sustainable Tourism, Innovation + Hospitality in Nagano | Tyler Lynch

Tyler Lynch is an innkeeper at a traditional Japanese ryokan in Nagano, Japan. He and his wife came back from Seattle to take over the business from his wife's mother who was retiring. They have continued the aesthetic of a traditional Japanese Inn stay and enhanced the value of experience by adding an outdoor hot-spring bath.

Tyler has also worked with his chef to develop flexible hospitality features such as vegan cuisine of the traditional (fish-based) Kaiseki meals. Tyler has also collaborated with local businesses to develop a food-delivery service called "Onsen-Eats" during COVID19. He has also helped to create tourism and travel infrastructure, such as creating local guided tours, and eco-tours on bicycles to add greater appeal to the inbound tourism market.
