Teaching Japanese Grannie's Home-Style Recipes in Australia | Chika Iwami

Using local ingredients to create healthy, delicious and satisfying Japanese meals is Chika Iwami's specialty. Originally from Hyogo prefecture in Japan, she has long been living in Australia and encouraged by friends to start teaching her Japanese home-style cooking as a business.

Chika is a master of the basics and describes here a passion for sharing her love of Japanese cooking using whatever ingredients you have on hand. She also shared how easy it is to adapt these recipes for vegans and vegetarians by creating a fish-free dashi stock which is usually the biggest hurdle for Japanese eateries.
