Upcycled Pet Basket Start-Up in Tokyo

It was wonderful talking with Deniz here - it is certainly not easy settling into life in a new country and learning the language and launching your own business. She has her heart in the right place and is trying to run a business that supports people as well as planet while getting steady income (= sustainability) - cheering for her!

Deniz grew up in Turkey, has lived in New York and Vienna and now Tokyo where she has made a home in Japan for the last 7 years. Deniz is a musician and craftsperson and has created an active social network- built on supporting others in her community.

In this video we talk about her recommendations in Tokyo as well as her activism and then talk about starting her company, Sweet Pet Baskets made out of ReTwisst upcycled yarn. She talks about wanting to use her passion to help others.

I gave her advice to offer more of herself on her business page so that her customers can see more about her company than just her products. Transparency and developing a strong brand around the founder is especially important for sustainable business marketing and branding.
