Azby Brown is a long-time resident of Japan and has expertise in Japanese architecture and Edo-era sustainability as well as being on the team of the Citizen Science organization SAFECAST.

Safecast launched in 2011 to provide data about radiation in Japan from the Fukushima nuclear disaster and has since grown into a global movement to monitor changes in the environment and share the data with the public #openaccessdata
