Traditional Tips for June in Japan + Summer Kimono Culture | Riki Ohkanda / PaprikaGirl

Riki Ohkanda is a popular guest in the Seeking Sustainability Live talkshow with her deep insights into Japanese traditional Kimono fashion, tea, and other aspects of old Japan still so appealing in our modern culture. Watch the video of this interview here on YouTube.

Riki is a film director, illustrator and storyteller in Japan. In this episode, we caught up with Riki as she is researching a film location in the Fukushima area of Japan. Originally from Chicago, Riki has developed a deep understanding of Japanese traditional kimono fashion and culture through pursuing tea ceremony, traditional writing, decoration, foods and drinks, and other cultural aspects.

Here we talk about June highlights of Ajisai Hydrangea flower motifs, seeking out lush green locations such as Ueno park in Tokyo, and wearing thinner 1-layer Japanese kimono to stay cool.
